WASHINGTON, USA — The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) on Wednesday agreed to change the venue of the next general assembly of the organization to the city of Cancun, in Mexico. The dates will stay the same: June 19 to 21.
The proposal, presented by the permanent representative of Mexico to the OAS, Luis Alfonso de Alba, was supported by the full Council. De Alba explained that the change of venue “will lead to better logistical conditions for the proper development of the work of the general assembly.”
This will be the first time that Mexico has hosted the OAS general assembly, which for this year has as its central theme “Strengthening Dialogue and Concentration for Prosperity”.
