Trinidad & Tobago Government makes good on its promise: Jehue Gordon finally receives keys to his HDC home

On Tuesday November 15, the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, presented track and field athlete, Jehue Gordon with the keys to his new home at Maracas Valley, St. Joseph.

In his brief remarks, the Honourable Randall Mitchell, regretted the length of time it had taken to present Mr. Gordon with his keys but expressed his appreciation to the HDC Board and its Management team for moving speedily to resolve this situation.

The Honourable Darryl Smith, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs was also present to congratulate Mr. Gordon and explained that the then Cabinet in 2013 agreed to grant a home to Mr. Gordon. However, this did not materialise before the last Government demitted office; this Government therefore resolved to correct this situation.

Jehue Gordon, humbly accepted this reward without pomp and ceremony and in an expression of gratitude, presented each of the Honourable Ministers with a bottle of his cologne. Also in attendance to witness this presentation were Mr. Newman George, HDC Chairman, Mr. Brent Lyons, Managing Director (Ag.), HDC and officials from the Ministry including Permanent Secretary, Simone Thorne-Mora and Deputy Permanent Secretary, Marion Hayes.

About Jehue Gordon:

Jehue Gordon, the 400m hurdler is a determined and focused young man who has proudly represented this country on the international scene since 2010. He shot into the spotlight in 2013 having won a double gold medal in the World Championships, which earned him the TTOC Sportsman of the Year and the Ministry of Sports’ Spirit of Sport Award. The following year, he received a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games. Mr. Gordon also medaled at the CARIFTA Games and Central America and Caribbean Youth Championships.
