Patrice, as is usually referred too, is the true Queen of Soca. She has worked tirelessly to achieve such greatness.
Patrice Roberts 34 years (born April 14th, 1986) is the world’s top female Soca artist. She hails from the beautiful Twin Island Republic State of Trinidad & Tobago, where Soca lives and was born.
She grew up in the fishing village of Toco and won the Sangre Grande Junior Calypso Monarch competition in 1995. Her hit single “The Islands” was used in television commercials by the Ministry of Tourism.
She performed for many years alongside the King of Soca Machel Montano in his band, Machel Montano HD. She is also a second cousin of singer Bunji Garlin.
Patrice is the mother of a beautiful young baby girl, understandably, who she is immensely proud of. Her daughter’s name is Lily also, called Serenity.
The father of her child is the famous Antiguan born Soca artist, Ricardo Drue.
It appears that royalty grows in the family.
Patrice first gained major attention in 2005 with her single “The Islands.” The next year, her collaborative single “Band of De Year,” earned the Carnival Road March title.
Today, on this auspicious occasion of “International Women’s Day” we also take the opportunity to recognize all women of the world, in their struggle and devotion for a better world.
